Quote of the day

Tam:

Perhaps I lived too long in a place where the local college fight song celebrates violating the Volstead Act and killing federal agents.

Heh. That’s my Alma mater.

There is no “WOOH!” in Rocky Top.

  2. Critter Says:

    which fight song is this?

  3. HL Says:

    @Critter

    University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

  4. Phillip Says:

    Amen to that.

    Rocky Top, you’ll always be,
    Home sweet home to me.

  5. Critter Says:

ah, well. i’ll just stay down here in Bama. better ball team, anyway.

  6. HL Says:

I doubt you can be an established Bama fan if you aren’t familiar with Rocky Top.

Probably not familiar with War Eagle either…

  7. Jerry Says:

Hmmmm, Steve Earl with blond hair. I would never have thought of that.

  8. Guaman Says:

Me also – UT Knoxville 1984. Until Tam brought it up, I’d never much thought about the lyrics. The song is much bigger for me now.

  9. Robert Says:

Living in NC right on the border with TN, I’ve always considered that “T” on the helmet to stand for “Traitors”. This is due to some of our high school players going there instead of an in state, or at least an ACC, school.

  10. Shootin' Buddy Says:

The best thing about the U of T is that it spawned Peyton Manning who should be in the fight song.

  11. Jerry Says:

@ Shootin’Buddy, eww uv tee didn’t spawn him. Archie did.

  12. mkb Says:

Actually, “Rocky Top” is not the official fight song of UT. That honor (?) belongs to “Down the Field.” It’s sad that it takes a Vandy grad to point that out to the UT grads.

    (Just kidding. Ease up.)

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
