I would make that the final SEAL test. OK everyone pick up a gun you think is safe, point it at your head and pull the trigger.
Those that make a BANG eliminate themselves. They don’t know how to unload a weapon.
Those that make a click sound – they can go home. They are not all that bright.
Those that didn’t pick up the gun pass the test.

This is how the SEAL teams protect themselves from the undesireables that apply for SEAL status. They allow the candidate to weed themselves out.

As one who has conducted many LOD’s, I will say this was not in the line of duty. QED, the taxpayer is not on the hook for lifetime care.
