Terrifying awesomeness

Farhad Manjoo on kids and the Nerf arsenal. Nerf has a lot of cool things out. And, yes, you’ll have to man up and be a parent. But those things are cool.

Meanwhile, illegal Nerf hack. Heh.

    That vid was just……wrong.

    Funny as hell, but wrong.

Of course, the first thing I did was show it to my kid.

Steel core nerf darts. I like it.

With the introduction of the Taurus Judge and the S&W Governor, the Nerf Blaster style of toy design has finally infiltrated real firearms.

At Mikee, #3, I must respond. Coming around is a better, well…..shit. .45. I used to carry a Charter in .44 because the silvertips looked imposing. These days, I carry a less imposing pistole. My gun is not there to scare, it just, well, is.

As a father of a 1-year-old son, Nerf’s weaponry worries me. And it worries me mainly because these guns seem irresistible. Before I played with them, I’d suspected I’d be the sort of blue-state parent who’d try to subtly, high-mindedly discourage my kid from playing with guns. After getting my hands on today’s Nerf, I see that’ll never work. If they’re so appealing to me, what hope would a 7-year-old have against these insanely awesome toys?

    Guns are fun. Who knew?

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
