It worked pretty well for about 12,000 years.

    Atlatl, Tobacco, Firearms.

  3. aeronathan Says:

Seems like that should be grandfathered into “primitive weapon” season :p

  4. countertop Says:

You can do that in Florida.

    With spears, or swords!

  5. Rabbit Says:

“Most Western states don’t allow this type of hunting,” Maurier said.

They did before those damned Enlightened white folks from back east showed up and ruined things 400 years ago.

  6. Kristopher Says:

    Yep. Atlatls.

There are a few enthusiasts out there who are lobbying to be allowed to use them during bow seasons. in the US.

  7. Standard Mischief Says:

Of course, you need an earlier season where you can only hunt via spear if the point is knapped out of flint and attached to the shaft with sinew.

  8. HL Says:

They will have to regulate the size of the spear of course. What about javelins?

Will big Viking type “Gugnir” spears greater than a half inch in diameter require a Form 4?

  9. Jamie Says:

I couldn’t care less if people wanted hunt with hand grenades, whatever turns your hunting crank.

  10. comatus Says:

Jamie, that’s distinctly unsporting of you. You’d never hunt with a hand grenade.

You fish with a hand grenade.

  11. Paul Says:

Heck man, here in Texas we use the Bowie! No sissy spear is needed.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
