The Gary Fadden incident

I read this a number of years ago and haven’t thought much of it since. But here’s a case of a man using his lawful NFA machine gun in self-defense.

  2. Robert Says:

Then there was the one of the gun store owner that got his place of business broken into one night and used a full auto to protect the place. Can’t remember right off where the story is at though I think it’s in Ayoob’s achives.

  3. Robert Says:

    archives, dammit…

  4. HCL3 Says:

The gun store was Sunbelt Arms in Decatur, GA. One night in November 1982 four men in a van drove through the front window of Sunbelt Arms with the intention of robbing the place. Several similar robberies of gun stores in the Atlanta area had occurred earlier that year so the owner of Sunbelt had been sleeping in the back of the store. When the four guys got out of the van he opened fire with an M16, killing 2 and wounding 2. One of the wounded later died at the hospital. Search for Sunbelt Arms Decatur in the Google News archives for the story.

HCL, I believe Robert may be citing the Harry Beckwith matter as well. (Gun store owner in Florida with S&W M76).

  6. Dwight Brown Says:

If Robert is thinking of the Beckwith incident, I linked to that recently myself, so I happen to have the link handy.

    Here it is.

  7. Robert Says:

Yes, I was thinking of the Beckwith incident with the M76.

  9. Robert Says:

And, as a note, He didn’t just protect his place of business once with a full auto weapon, he did it TWICE!

  10. HCL3 Says:

Here is the link to the sunbelt arms incident

    link

  11. Robert Says:

I’d give the guy in the Decatur incident a score of 3/1 instead of 2/2. One of the wounded died later, so that counts in my book.

  12. Gunnutmegger Says:

Computer game designer Richard Garriott (creator of Ultima series of games) used an Uzi to hold at bay a deranged fan who broke into his house. He fired a warning shot(s).
