Damn, that’s a nice knife too.
What is the world coming to when you can’t carry a pocket knife any more? A knife is THE basic human tool.
One of my biggest complaints with TSA is that I can no longer carry a pocket knife when I fly. Sure, I can put it in a carry on, but what will I use to open that stupid bag of peanuts?

Remember the link Uncle provided a few days ago, to the NYS Sullivan Act?
Well, under the provisions of said act, those knives are also illegal in NY State, as well as in Manhattan.
NYS Penal Code 265.00 Definitions, sec 4 / 5 / 5-a / 5-b / 5-c…
The rest of 265.xx goes on to codify the weapons possessions charges and in what degree, etc.
Thats right, boys and girls…NY treats knives no differently than it does its guns, because t he same statute (265.xx) applies to handguns as applies to knives…its a *concealable dangerous weapons* statute. Nice catch-all by Big Tim Sullivan when he foisted this tripe on New York, disarmed his political and criminal opponents via State Law, then proceeded to enrich himself by having supreme control of all the criminal activities in Lower Manhattan.

Remember the term “Anti-Gun” is a misnomer. The guns are simply the current thing they’re working on. The people who ban guns also ban knives, cars, cigarettes, trans-fats, happy meal toys, salt, four-loko, etc etc etc.
The proper term for these people is “Anti-Freedom”, even if we caved to them and repealed the entire 2nd Amendment, there would be a next ban.

Glad to see the judge saw through this stupid enforcement change. Vance has started to go after badically all folding knifes with a one hand opening capability. Tom Gresham has discussed t a couple of times on Gun Talk. The really dirty part besides for the rights violation is that the money from “settlements” Vance has been making with the retailers under threat of criminal prosecution go into his political slush fund. We gun people (who tend to be at least casual knife people too) really need help Knife Right put Vance in his place since it sets a dangerous precedent and strategy for ou of control politicans to interpret and enforce the law as they want and blackmail businesses in the process. http://www.kniferights.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=113&Itemid=1

I had some new jerk – I mean New York cops steal a nice brand new Gerber from me back in ’88 as I was coming from base in New London back home to visit family in TN. Stopped at at a truck stop to get gas, and they pulled me over just as I left the parking lot, some bullshit about not paying for gas, but since I always got a receipt, that didn’t fly. I had the knife down beside the front seat, like usual, and the cop gave me shit about it, and confiscated – no, stole – my knife, said if I complained he could just take me in. Bastard. I hate NY, hope they sink into the ocean.

I think anti knife laws are the ultimate in stupidity. One of the ways early human activity can be identified is by the presence of cutting tools. Also, prisons have to constantly search for prisoner made knives. In other words, even in a 100% controlled environment, you can’t stop a human from making a knife and even someone that grows up on an African savanna will figure it out eventually. Of course I didn’t need another reason to stay away from NY.

I wonder if the Officer was just trying to score a free knife. I’ve had Officers try and pull the you know it’s illegal to carry a knife routine on me before when my Strider is in my pant pocket( where it always is), which ends in ultimate fail when I identify myself as a police officer. I hate that crap…I usually get annoyed at anti-cop posts, but some Officer act like they are frigging pirates or street urchins.
