Do not try to catch a dropped gun

Woman shot when man drops gun. And, also, use a damn holster.

Uh, he didn’t catch it, it discharged when it hit the floor. I’d guess it discharged when it hit the floor because it was cocked (most derringer’s are single action only), or because it doesn’t have drop safety.

Might want to change the title here. And RTFA 🙂

  2. SayUncle Says:

Whenever an article states a gun fired when it hit the floor, I wince. Guns don’t do that (mostly). I have my doubts. Derringer or no.

  3. Justin Buist Says:

Soldering irons and soiled diapers that aren’t closed up are other things not to try and catch when dropped.

  4. Paul Says:

I bet the hammer was resting on a live round.

It could be a NAA ‘derringer’ revolver, or an old FIE 2 shooter or something like that.

I hope they have a follow on story.

I do hear the lady was shot in the bottom.

    Law suits here we come.

  5. Jeff Says:

The elderly lady is in critical condition.
Apparently the gun shot up through her leg and into her stomach..

  6. Kristopher Says:

Older derringers have a hammer sitting directly on a live primer.

Bond Arms and ADC derringers have manual hammerblocks you can engage. But you have to engage them.

Derringers are meant to be pocket pistols … if you carry a pocket pistol, you need to not have other crap in that pocket that can drag it out, like keychains.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
