Why are anti-gun activists so violent?

Brady Campaign endorsed John Myers, who has sponsored gun control bills. He also has a bit of a checkered past:

The most extensive arrest record the AP search turned up belonged to Rep. John Myers, D-Philadelphia. His only conviction was a February 1987 guilty plea to having an unlicensed .38-caliber handgun, with an obliterated serial number, concealed in his vehicle, according to court records. He was sentenced to 15 months’ probation.

Myers also was charged in Philadelphia with assault with intent to kill in 1972, and marijuana possession in 1980, but both cases were dismissed. He was accused of shooting at someone in Philadelphia in 1981, but was acquitted.

And this guy is now a PA rep.

Isn’t having a firearm with a destroyed serial number an NFA violation good for several years in Club Fed?

But I guess the law only applies to the little people.

Jeez no wonder he’s anti gun. If he did any of that crap in Tennessee, he’d have been shot.

  3. Joel Says:

Sounds like he’ll fit right in as a lawmaker. Now he can commit crimes wholesale, and it’ll all be legal! Win-win!

  4. Lyle Says:

Well, to be fair; just possessing a gun, any gun, is protected by the Bill of Rights, and he wasn’t convicted on the other charges.

He may be a certifiable scumbag, but I don’t see a crime there unless he’s violating other people’s rights or the constitution somewhere.

Oh I’m sorry. I didn’t check the link first.
Now I understand. Does that make me a racist?

  7. Chas Says:

The obliterated serial number and his history of violence indicate that he was prepared to shoot someone to death and then ditch the untraceable gun.
He’s a classic, violent, Brady Center endorsed, thug. I’ll have to remember John Myers the next time the Batty Center starts whining about the Tiahrt Amendment.
Remember: This is the kind of violent, sociopathic thug that the Brady Center wants to rule over us after we’ve been disarmed. No, thank you, Mr. Helmke.

I don’t know, but recently I saw a National Geographic Channel program about domestic/feral animals vs their wild counterparts–I have no idea what the name of the program was–but it got me to thinking about this.

This program showed the stray dogs of Moscow, the wild chickens of Fitzgerald Georgia, a segment on the difference between wolf pups and dog pups, and a segment dealing with rats.

The overarching question was basically; what allows some animals to be wild but still interact with humans in such an intimate manner?

It was interesting that the common denominator in every single instance was a lack of fear and that very lack of fear coincided with less violence, more curiosity, heightened acceptance of others outside their pack/group/species along with enhanced tolerance of an urban environment.

In animals there’s a novelty paradox. Novelty is a paradox because it is both fear-provoking and attractive–or curiosity inducing. Novelty is anything new or strange in an animal’s environment and it is most fear-provoking and attractive to animals with a nervous, excitable temperament. Confronted with sudden novelty, highly reactive animals are more likely to have a major fear reaction. (Behavioral Genetics And Animal Science, Temple Grandin and Mark J. Deesing, Acedemic Press 1998)

As demonstrated on that National Geographic Channel program, the animals which were most tolerant, curious, and least violent were the ones that were the least fearful–the ones with the most fear were the most violent.

Anti-gun nuts seem to me to be afraid of (and have no tolerance for) anyone not of their “pack” with their same beliefs.

I don’t know if this answers the question, “Why are anti-gun nuts so violent?”, but it damn sure makes one wonder.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
