At the ER in Abilene, Texas with either kidney stones or appendicitis.  God damn, this hurts.

    Yikes. Pain medication is cheap, pester them until they give you enough to knock it down.

    Passed gall stones 20+ years ago, have much empathy. If they offer you Morphine, take it. Helps a lot, and one of the few legal times you can get an opiate into your system. Really changed my attitude towards those poor bastards who get hooked on Heroin, since I now understand what the thrill of the stuff is and why people want it all the time. One of those “Walk a mile in my shoes” moments.

    Kidney stone = the closest man gets to having a baby. Feels like trying to pass a jagged watermelon thorough your ureter.

    When my appendix went south on me it didn’t hurt much, I hear kidney stones will bring you to your knees, though.

    Best thing I found for kidney stones was some leftover badass antiinflammatory I had in the junk drawer. If that’s what it is, see if you can get some. I can’t remember what mine was, but any should do. Yeah, those opiates; I grew up taking codeine cough syrup as a child. Oh man.
