Yup. Being worried about criminals getting them is a stupid reason. The US not allowing the ROK to commit wholesale theft is a damn good reason.

That is not the reason they have given. What they said was: they might “fall into the wrong hands”.
They are right: the rifles would “fall into” hands like mine. I say “like” mine because I already have 4 of them and don’t feel the “need” for another one. But from the perspective of the current Powers That Be, hands like mine are definitely the “wrong” hands.

From what I’ve read, this isn’t the first administration that has refused to buy back weapons they already own.
That being said, the reasons this administration gave were lame, at best.

If they can’t stop it through the Congress (“Gun Control BEFORE the Election, are you NUTs Obama?”), they’ll use every backdoor trick to deny the U.S. Citizen the RKBA. Just wait until the Lame Duck Session starts.
