We’re winning

Tennessee gun permits up 23% last year

Highest concentration in Knoxville, which coincidentally:

community registered 25 killings last year — 21 in the city and four in the county, according to police statistics. That compares with 38 killings reported in 2008, which included high-profile, public shootings at a high school, a mall and a church sanctuary.

I heard that on the radio this morning. 6% of eligible Tennesseans have permits. Pretty darned amazing. For the sake of comparison, I wonder what the percentage is for driver’s licenses?

  2. SayUncle Says:

Still, just an insignificant minority that politicians should stop pandering to. Just ask knoxviews!

  3. chris Says:

Rather ironic that Knox County’s 2009 murder rate dropped almost 35% from its 2008 rate.

Tough time to be a hippie. Obama’s approval rating is in the sewer. Global Warming is busted, Toyota executives are in Washington warning about anti-trust issues. Health care has been exposed for what it is.

In November the carnage continues. It will be a Scott Brown festivus. 2012 is around the corner. And like him or hate him Glenn Beck is exposing that Progressives are not Liberals. Crazy Chavez is nationalizing everything in Venezuela including taco stands. Socialism never looked worse than it does today.

And Knoxville leads Tennessee in common sense for self defense.

    Tough times for hippies.

As I recall, in one of those mall shootings was an off-duty cop who probably shot a man over a parking lot incident.

Has there been any recent reporting on that?

  6. SayUncle Says:

Not that i know of. I think you mean the jewelry store guard shooting?

  7. LissaKay Says:

I thought the Commercial Appeal had finally come to their senses, and had taken down the searchable HCP database. It’s still there in all it’s ugly glory, with Scripps employees linking to it from Twitter

  8. Jailer Says:

Hmmm? 2 out of 3 “high profile” public shootings in 2008 were in gun free zones. Go figure.

Obviously with increase in the number of carry permits the public gets it.

  9. Ron W Says:

I wonder how the execs at the Commerical Appeal would react if they had to get a State permit to exercise their First Amendment rights with the public having access to their required info? But if it’s folks exercising 2nd Amendment rights then they’re OK with trampling the 4th Amendment.

How about ALL of the Bill of Rights for ALL Citizens?!

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
