Why are anti-gun activists so violent?

Bob must have been winning:

Send me your home address and I’ll come to your house and punch your fucking face in. Unless you are a pussy who can’t fight without a gun in his hand.

Also, Bob’s comments disappeared. Didn’t see them but he must have been winning. Via Linoge.

I’d act like I’m surprised, but it’d be a really bad act.

By the way, you might want to change the link since it logs me into a wordpress account as mamamihomeschool when I follow it.

  2. Spook45 Says:

I love em whne they talk that smack, in reality most of them dont have a CLUE what it means to commit to violence of action! As for BOB, Ive dealt with his kind before and all I have to say is…………..BRING IT ON, THATS THE WAY I LIKE IT! I have something for BOB and it is not a GUN:)

  3. Tomcatshanger Says:

I have a saved copy of the page from last night, I had a feeling reasoned discourse was about to happen.

  4. Weer'd Beard Says:

And like most bloggers practicing reasoned discourse, “Trolling” is suddenly defined as “Disagreeing with me”.

Also appears her husband has taken to trolling Bob’s comments….using the conventional definition:

  5. DirtCrashr Says:

That’s funny, all these angry, mocking responses to a guy named Bob – who has disappeared – yet the angry responses still hang there like so much spit on a windshield.

  6. Speakertweaker Says:

I’m going to regret it, but I felt the need to pressure-test the blood vessels in my head by commenting on that thread.

    *sigh*

    I’m a glutton for punishment.

  7. Weer'd Beard Says:

FYI Bob’s comments were slanderous things like links to the CDC website, the FBI crime statistics, and statements about personal responsibility.

    God Gun-Nuts can be NASTY!

  8. Tam Says:

    A couple pointers:

Do you not care about (your family/getting raped)?” is NOT the way to convince a non-shooter that you’re right to pack heat.

  9. Weer'd Beard Says:

Tho she had already conceded that home defense is finest kind.

So protecting family from harm under your roof OK…on the sidewalk outside the roof…ebil and baad!

  10. Nylarthotep Says:

Tam, Your assumption is that that argument was intended to convince and not to troll. I doubt that from the rest of the comment where her hubby is called an imbecile that this was any attempt at anything but trolling.

  11. workinwifdakids Says:

Like my old man said, “Anytime you’re feeling froggy…”

  12. Tam Says:

    Nyarlthotep,

I don’t know; I never read the comments in question.

I have seen my share of *facepalm* arguments made by folks on my side before, so I was extrapolating and inferring based on past experience.

  13. Tam Says:

    Oops, sorry… “Nylarthotep”. 😮

Are you any kin to Bubbahotep of the Froggy Bottom Hoteps?

  14. Bob S. Says:

Tomcatshanger – If you would send me the comments you saved, I would certainly appreciate it – 3boxesofbs@gmail.com

    Tam,

I was trying to understand the difference in her philosophy of ‘its okay to have a gun at home or in your car but not in public’.

I may not have expressed it as well I could have but it wasn’t the way you paraphrased it in the slightest.

    Read what I wrote:

Question, if someone was assaulting you, would you fight back?
If you do, then you would be playing “Citizen Hero” just as much as I would.

If someone tried to rob you, would you meekly hand over all your possessions or fight back?
If you fight back, then you would be “Citizen Hero” just as much as I would.

What would you do to protect your kids?

Why is it okay to keep firearms at home to protect your family but not take them in public?

Nylarthotep –I’m confused. I didn’t call her husband an imbecile. I responded to his name calling on my blog and to his threat of physical violence.

Cool. Seems fairly calm to me. Maybe someone else said something about which she felt threatened or was flipping out? It seems that plenty of highly-edited Reasoned Discourse® broke out over there…

  16. Weer'd Beard Says:

Nope, unless I misread things she went off the handle and hubby started tossing threats either from a wild misunderstanding, or the sheer gall of presenting an intelligent rebuttal.

It’s like a syndrome. All that disagree with me are labeled “Trolls”, and wild claims of personal attacks are cut from whole cloth. It’s not like we haven’t seen it dozens of times before.

  17. Tomcatshanger Says:

Sure can Bob_S, they are at home on my laptop.

If I forget, hit me up on IRC.

  18. Weer'd Beard Says:

Interesting. Seems punchy has aspirations to be a US Congressman?

God made men, Col. Colt made them equal.

  20. Tam Says:

Unless you are a pussy who can’t fight without a gun in his hand.

Why, what a gentle and charming man…

  21. Yu-Ain Gonnano Says:

He seems to be under the delusion that there is such a thing as a honorable fight.

“It was just him and me. He fought with honor. If it weren’t for his honor, he and the others would have beaten me together. They might have killed me, then. His sense of honor saved my life. I didn’t fight with honor… I fought to win.”
Yes, that’s right, thought Bean. Fought the only way that’s worth fighting, the only way that has any point. -Ender’s Game/Shadow

  22. Dixie Says:

“God made men, Col. Colt made them equal.”

“Be not afraid of any man no matter what his size; when danger threatens, call on me, and I will equalize.”

So, we’re evil, vicious people for wanting easy, practical self defense tools, but they’re on the side of the angels… even though they want to beat your face in?

I remember then time when I was anti-gun and leftist… but I *never* remember being *that* crazy.

“It’s like a syndrome. All that disagree with me are labeled “Trolls”, and wild claims of personal attacks are cut from whole cloth. It’s not like we haven’t seen it dozens of times before.” -Weer’d Beard

Funny you should say that. I have been banned from two sites by people supposedly on our side exactly the same way. One because I “threatened” him with conversation, the other because I wouldn’t let his wife personally attack me without pointing out her hypocrisy. Both of these individuals are highly thought of by most in the gun rights community. Not me, but by others less knowledgeable of their characters or lack thereof.

  24. Weer'd Beard Says:

I’ve seen is Straightarrow, and I don’t agree with it either.

  25. Fred Says:

Looks like Bob’s comments are back up. Funny, he provides evidence for his points, doesn’t swear, or really call anybody names. But the “lawyer” is yelling and swearing all over the place. I hope she doesn’t argue like that in the court room.

  26. Firehand Says:

Gotta love the “A MAN doesn’t need a gun” crap. Does that include older men? Men with physical handicaps? Men who know they can’t fight two or more attackers because they’re not effin’ Bruce Lee?

    Geez.

  27. Weer'd Beard Says:

Firehand: Yes because Rob Russell would prefer to be feared rather than respected, and weak people are people he can beat up if they disagree with them.

  28. Linoge Says:

It just keeps getting better and better: http://www.wallsofthecity.net/2010/01/pulling_back_the_curtain.html

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
