Going Green

The start of the next project:

From Gun Porn

Started off with a 6.8SPC marked lower from Tactical Machining. And I decided I needed a bit of color in my collection so I got some flat dark earth furniture from Cavalry Arms.

BTW, CavArms customer service is great. I called them up because for some reason the pistol grip screw I had was a bit long. I asked them if their grips maybe required a shorter screw (since their stocks don’t use a spacer, I thought it was possible). They sent me a screw and washer free. That’s good service.

How much was the furniture (if you don’t mind me asking)?

I only ask because a couple years ago, i got into firearm refinishing (Duracoat. Or, “paint” (as Paul Helmke calls it). After a nominal investment on equipment, i’ve been refinishing my own firearms (you can use the duracoat on plastic, wood, just about any surface that can be “roughed up’ first), and doing some refinishing for my friends. For $16 and change, you can buy 4oz of duracoat which refinished about 3-4 complete handguns and about 2 whole rifles. All you need is a good air brush (I have a Paasche dual stage which set me back about $80 i think.) something to consider if you start making it a hobby.

In no time at all, you’ll be going to gun shows and looking at all those beat up weapons as an investment instead of an eyesore.

I think about $60. Prices at the link. But getting some equipment may be more cost effective.

  3. Molon Labe Says:

Yeah, at that price, good deal. Plus no overspray geting you in trouble with the Mrs. I learned my lesson and built a spray booth.

I like the random bayonet lying in the foreground

  5. SayUncle Says:

And a random shotgun in the background.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
