how not to win

Way to win hearts and minds:

Thirteen-year-old Lane Dunkley just wanted to go hunting with his grandfather.
What he got was a lecture on politics.

[…]

But when father and son arrived at the lesson, the volunteer instructor, Kell Wolf, asked if any of the students voted for President Barack Obama.

Reddy, a transplanted Californian — and former Marine — raised his hand.

According to Reddy and others in the room, Wolf called Obama “the next thing to the Antichrist” and ordered Reddy and Dunkley from the room. When Reddy refused, Wolf said he would not teach “liberals” and would cancel the course if Reddy didn’t leave.

While Reddy is clearly an idiot, I understand the sentiment.

I was just about to send you this, and thought I should check to see if you already posted it. I’m learning.

Like kbiel said, although I can understand the feelings that would make someone think that way, it’s clearly extremely counterproductive.

    My thoughts:

Despite the way it’s portrayed, the election isn’t a popularity contest. Voting has consequences. I don’t care if he was a Marine, apparently he was one before the Constitution became toilet paper for politicians. So Mr. Ex-California chose poorly. He should be reminded every single day.

The more liberals you can get to take an interest in the shooting sports, the more they will talk about it with their liberal friends, and it may make them think a bit when some of their other liberal friends say “ew, yuck, guns”, or they go to their next Democratic party meetup/rally whatever and some rabid hoplophobe pushes gun control. They might stand up and say “hey, I’m a gun owner and I support the 2nd Amendment.”

Yes, elections have consequences, but there’s more than just gun legislation directions that get decided in elections. We’re also finally gaining traction in the courts, no small feat.

Also, we have secret ballots for a reason, and the volunteer instructor was WAY out of line for asking his class who they voted for.

Anyway, as regards “the rest of the story” the state agency made things right and set up a private course for the grandfather and grandson.

That was idiotic and morally wrong. He had no more right to abuse another than Obama and/or other libs have to abuse him.

    straightbarrow, you got my words.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
