Anti-gun hypocrisy
Governor Rod Blagojevich has selected Roland Burris to fill Obama’s senate seat. I guess he got the winning bid. An interesting bit on Mr. Burris:
A longtime advocate of a national handgun ban, Burris organized Chicago’s first Gun Turn-in Day in 1993. But when he ran for governor the following year, he admitted that he owned a handgun (“for protection,”) and did not hand it over to police as he urged others to do.
Owning that gun would likely be illegal in Chicago, unless you’re a politico. And, of course, gun turn ins are only for the little people. Or folks who want to destroy evidence.
And his anti-gun hypocrisy gets better.

He also took advantage of Ald. Mell’s bill to allow limited reregistration of long guns after both ‘forgot’ to do it.

You don’t understand. Firearm ownership is to be reserved for our moral and political leaders, the philosopher-kings so to speak. The Great Unwashed might, after all, get ideas of allowed the privilege of self-defense.

Well, Burris is no Rosie O’Donnell, so he probably cant afford to hire a full-time armed bodyguard.

I love this sort of hypocrisy. Livinig in CT I’m always tempted to pick up a few old cheap Mosin/Nagant’s in lousy condition for $45 and then turn them in at the next NYC gun turn in for $200 a pop, a nice ROI in any market. But I never trust the “no questions asked” policy… as I’m sure someone, somewhere is checking the serial #’s, and while mine would be legally purchased, albeit not in NYC, who needs the potential hassle down the road??
