In Chicago

A pro-gun rally. Coverage here and here.

I wonder if the Chicago Tribune will continue its fine tradition of acting like pro-gun rallies don’t happen?

Rallies serve no purpose unless the sponsors can translate them into turnout at election time. They look nice, but if everyone who attended instead put $100 into a PAC like the ISRA-PVF they would get a much better response from the politicians.

Spoken like a true legislative director 😉 I think it’s important to show that passion for the second amendment is alive and well in The Windy City. Sometimes it’s worthwhile for people of like mind to get together and get some energy going, get in front of the cameras, and reporters, and get the message out there. Or at least try.

The main drawback to rallies is that they tend to attract the loons of the movement. But anything that gets gun owners off their asses shouldn’t be discounted.

To Sebastion: I do tend agree with you but today was a delightful exception. everyone there had their game face on and nary a loon to be seen, other than me of course, but luckily I was behind the camera!

  4. Jacob Says:

    Actually, it’s now Legislative VP.

I am serious, though. Watch over the next few weeks to see if any politician does something because of this rally. That is how you can measure its success.

  5. Weisenheimer Brainstorm Says:

To expect legislative action based on one rally is setting the bar pretty high. The main purpose of any rally is to generate publicity and put a point of view on a particular issue in front of as many eyes as possible. This rally was a good post Heller first step, but even the local papers didn’t cover it.

A gun rally in Chicago? Wow, were they all open carrying? Did they all get arrested? Or did they fight back?

Oh, a political rally in support of firearms ownership. Not a Lexington and Concord kind of actual show of support. Oh, well, better than nutthin’.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
