NRA Endorsements

Bitter has hers.

As someone who only recently joined The Triangle of Death, can someone explain briefly how voting, running, etc. works (i.e., who can run, who can vote)? I really don’t know.

You have to be a member for five consecutive years before you’ll get a ballot in your monthly magazine. Bitter is actually not a voting member yet herself. I’ve been in 8 years, so I am. You can also get a ballot if you’re a life member without having to wait five years.

Let me walk you through the basics….

Voting is limited to Life Members, or Annual Members who have been members for 5 years or longer.

Nominees for the Board of Directors can come either from the Nominating Committee, or by petition from the membership.

I think paid off life members can vote right away. I paid dues for three years and then started the “life membership at $25 per quarter plan”, however, I paid my membership off early. so I’m not 100% sure.

I’m pretty sure you need to be at least a life member to be considered. I suppose you could call the number on your card if you needed the exact requirements. If you are Wayne’s type of people, the current committee will get you on the ballot. You can also get on the ballot by pension of the membership (250 signatures). You could also be a write-in candidate, although I’m not sure if that has ever worked.

There’s 75 members on the Board of Directors, and one third of them come up for election every year. I suppose that’s why Joaquin Jackson not yet up for re-election. Either that or he’s not running.

There’s always a “keep the NRA strong” paid ad somewhere near the ballot in the magazine.

Say Uncle for NRA Board of Directors?

  4. Bitter Says:

Jackson isn’t up this year. He was re-elected right before those comments came to light, so I think we’re stuck with him for a while. However, I find it hard to believe that he’d even attempt to run again.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
