EBR sales to go up

So, it looks as though congress has voted to buy votes with money borrowed from the people they’re giving it back to. Or something. Anyway, it’s a bunch of crap. Regardless, KDT is advocating those that get some bling back go buy an Evil Black Rifle.

I already have an EBR, so I’m either gouing to buy an underfolder AK or a supressor from OEF_VET 😉

This part from here gives me pause:

“The checks are an advance on next year’s refunds, and most, if not all of the money, will be deducted from taxpayers’ refunds in 12 months’ time.”

  3. wizardPC Says:

wait, what? I set up my withholdings so I don’t get a refund. Does that mean that I will owe the .gov $600 more than normal nezt year?

We figure we make too much to get a “rebate”.

My wife was unaware that this was coming. I seriously considered hiding it and picking up an AR-10 and just claiming I did some side work for someone.

Then I realized that’d not go over well in a marriage 😉

Interesting, trying to follow up on that quote we come to a CNN *Edit* — CNN has removed the sentence, but here is a MSN article that basically says the same thing and includes:
The only people for whom this really is free money are low-income folks (those who earn at least the minimum $3,000 required to trigger the checks or who receive at least $3,000 in Social Security or veterans benefits) who won’t end up owing any taxes for 2008.

Unfortunately (or is it fortunately? Depends on how you look at these things) i didn’t make enough last year to be eligible, as i was an unemployed college student up until September (now i’m an employed student). Oh well. I think I’ll get an SKS before November anyway…there’s one in a local gunshop that’s been sitting on the shelf for the past couple months, and I might be able to get the dealer to come down on the price…

  8. wizardPC Says:

well crap. Guess I’ll just have to throw that check in a 5% moneymarket, assuming I get one at all. I had plans for that money!

  9. John Hardin Says:

…so in other words the “rebate” isn’t, it’s just more wealth redistribution.

    Quelle surprise.

  10. wizardPC Says:

This is nothing more than a payday loan from the .gov

  11. Linoge Says:

What, you honestly expected the government to give back the money you so graciously gave to them (under threat of legal action)?

*sigh* Just going to have to stuff it in one of my mutual funds and get the most amount of utility out of it as I can, before I have to give it back. If I get it at all.

“Every election is an advance auction of stolen goods.” Or words to that general effect. H. L. Mencken, writing before most of your parents were born. The bums have been needing thrown out for a very long while now.

Yeah, I hear ya. D.I.N.K. That’s us, and two professionals to boot.

    I ain’t holdin’ my breath.

Y’all have fun with whatever ya get.

It’s good to see that “great minds think alike”. When I first heard of this superficial vote buying scheme I was pissed. But a funny thing happened on my way to (another) bile-inducing, profanity laced bitch session about Washington….I said “screw it” because I’ll just buy (another) AR or AK.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
