or not!

New York mayor Bloomberg is attempting to wrap himself in the constitution when it comes to 2nd amendment PROTECTED rights with this comment

Believe this or not, I am a defender of the Second Amendment,” Mr. Bloomberg said. “I see nothing wrong with people having guns. But that doesn’t mean you can have a gun everyplace. And concealed weapons or even weapons out in the open in big cities, in city streets, does not make a lot of sense to me.”

I simply say “or not”, and there seems always to be a but(t) and he was the one quoted.

“And concealed weapons or even weapons out in the open in big cities, in city streets, does not make a lot of sense to me.” –Mayor Bloomberg

And he SAYS he supports the 2nd Amendment? I suppose only for public officials like himself-with hired guns paid for by those who he wants to keep disarmed.

I don’t think this really applies to Bloomberg, but it is at least theoretically possible to support the basic purpose of the Second Amendment – to make sure the population owns guns in case they ever need to revolt – while not appreciating the value of allowing people to carry guns in public areas for self-defense. After all, if a police state ever comes around that we need to revolt against, it won’t matter whether we had a legal right to pack heat in public under the laws of the previous regime; those rights won’t exist anymore. Hell, if that happens we won’t have a legally recognized right to own guns at all. The only thing we will have – and the only thing that will really matter – is the guns themselves.

Mr. Bloomberg fails to realize that his “support” of the Second Amendment is required by his job, not his personal choice. It is a check on government power, and as such is not subject to governmental flunky whim.

I could live with a government official who did not think an armed populace was a good idea, but agreed to abide by the Second Amendment as part of his job. But this “support” while undermining is intolerable.

    NYPD loves the Second Amendment.

“Part of my hearing’s gone because of it.”

A .22? clapping your hands is louder!

And I recall a picture of him when he was trying to outlaw “realistic” toy guns (and, of course, replicas) in which he was holding an example – a lime-green translucent water pistol!

Paul, you make an excellent point, Public servants are required to uphold all the law including the 2nd Amendment regardless of how they FEEL about it. There are things in my job that I don’t FEEL like doing, but I do them or be fired–the same should apply to our government employees.

Many politicans are hypocrites, because they want to take our right to armed self-defense away–while we are forced to pay for hired guns to protect them so they can FEEL safe.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
