Only at Wal-Mart

Went to Wal-Mart yesterday to get some stuff. The Mrs. was trying to return something so Junior and I went to grab some diapers and dog food. I passed sporting goods and noticed they had 100 rounds of Winchester 230 grain .45ACP ammo for $19. And they had 100 rounds Winchester 115 grain 9MM for $11. I told the guy to give me two of each. He looks at Junior and asked if she was going shooting. I said she would in about five or six years. He said make it four. Then, out of the blue, he said something to effect of You don’t think the terrorists are coming here do you? Obviously referencing the tragedy in London.

I said No, just think it’s a good deal.

Then he said that he had sold a ton of ammo that day. I’m as pro-gun as they get but, unless you actually catch someone planting a bomb, I’m not sure your handgun is an effective bomb stopper.

Wallyworld down where you live? Those are pretty darn good prices. I hope my local Walblight doesn’t rook me with higher cost.

Yeah, the one in Alcoa. Definitely a good price.

Yeah, the WWB is displacing everything else at IDPA.
It’s pretty good stuff, for the price. I found a bunch at a local salvage place – the “old” 100 rounders, with the styrofoam, not the new ones in the slimmer packaging, for $14… Ought to hold me for a few months.

Our local Wallyworld sells absolute crates of the 100-rounder WWBs, and the new Remington 100 round packs (a little more, but with hollowpoints).

So far, none of the places around here that sell ammo seem to have noticed. How, I don’t know..

My local Wal-Mart sells 200 round boxes of Federal .223 55 grain hollowpint for $49.99. Best price I’ve seen outside of the internet or a gun show. Last month they were very low on all pistol ammo, I talked to the sporting goods guy and told him if he purchased a bunch of the WWB in every caliber available it would sell. He did and it did. Now he’s going to be buying it on a more regular basis. Yea Wal-Mart!

It’s hard to stop bombs with a gun, but guns are effective against many other terrorist tactics.

Heh. I ordered a combination of .30-06, .223, and .45 ACP today totaling more than 1400 rounds. It wasn’t because of any attacks, I just needed the ammo and the AIM catalog had some good deals.

Interesting. I had the same ‘bomb stopper’ conversation with one of my sons yesterday. I’m in NYC all the time now and it came up. Handguns aren’t going to do it for terror bombs.

Jess is a extreme sports type (climber/kayaks/etc) and we discussed what a briefcase survival pack might contain.

Water, flashlight, leatherman, hi-octane energy bars, and a plastic smoke hood with 15 mins of oxygen that has a 5 year shelf life and is the size of a small tomato soup can.

They are already carry’ng earthquake kits around in Kali, so this might be the eastcoast version.

    Bummer!

    The “Mrs.”?
    I didn’t know you’d married Connie too.
    🙂

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
