Reasoned Discoursetm: Not just for guns any more

Really, Chris Wallace asked that? Unreal. Update: Via Justin, yup, he did.
In comments here, Lissa Kay says: I used to count myself amongst the ‘antis’ and it was truly based on emotions. A fear reaction, for sure. When I was 16, late one night I found myself on the wrong end of a gun being wielded by an old perv that wanted to have his way […]
I gave Tom King of Gun Talk a bit of a hard time for banning commenters and deleting comments here noting that we should: let them say those things. And link to them to show what vile disgusting people they are. Let their vile flummery stand to show what their side is like. They’re losing […]
Keep lining them up, and we’ll keep knocking them down: This is a tiny event in the overall scheme of things, but the pattern appears to be holding: 1. Anti-gun blog announced amid much fanfare. 2. Anti-gun blog filled with embarrassingly misinformed misinformation. 3. Anti-gun blog closed for comments. Lather, rinse, repeat. I guess they […]
Without the pro-gunnies, who’s going to read poor Robyn? I’m guessing no one. More here and here.
Robyn Ringler says uncle. We win. If what she was saying were not clouded by the fact she deleted several non threatening comments, I might buy her hysteria. But she never was interested in discourse, just repeating things proven to be false. More here and here.
Tom King, President of the New York State Rifle & Pistol Association, has a blog at Timesunion.com that is pro-gun running counter to the PSH of Robyn Ringler. Now, Robyn has been deleting pro-gun comments faster than John Ford is stocking up on soap on a rope (see here and here). She claims she’s only […]
Or will you gun nuts stop correcting me all the time. Via thirdpower, who notes the inconsistencies.
Seen in comments: The Protest Easy Guns videos have now disabled comments after people completely destroyed their arguments. Hmm, what does this remind me of?
Heh: With the outbreak of Reasoned Discoursetm over at Paul Helmke’s Brady Blog to Prevent Gun Ownership you might think that there’s no way to inject facts into the debate anymore, well at least not with Paul Helmke. However that is not the case. I am not the first to notice that the Brady Bunch […]
Heh. But I think it needs another monkey behind it flinging poo.
Could be. Regarding Robyn Ringler’s anti-gun rights blog and allegations she’s deleting comments, a reader (who I will identify, if the want) emails: I think there’s some confusion about the moderation/deletion on her blog. When you post a comment on her blog, you see it immediately posted, but it’s not really through moderation, you can […]
Seems the public is not for more gun control: A recent Zogby International poll question conducted for Associated Television News found that 66% of the American voting public in a recent poll of 1,020 Americans from August 8-11, 2007 (margin of error of +/- 3.1%) found that the American public rejects the notion that new […]
There was no better source for pro-gun information than the Brady Blog itself. So, they shut off comments after running some pretty hateful correspondence they had in a series entitled reasoned discourse. None of that stuff actually appeared on the blog, though. Additionally, other anti-gun blogs suffer the similar fates: Another anti-gun blog starts up […]
Paul Helmke is quoting Sarah Brady: The fact is that this debate isn’t about guns at all. It’s about how we as a society relate to guns. It’s about how we buy them, sell them, store them, and use them. When we talk about gun control, what we’re really talking about are ways to encourage […]
What is reasoned discourse with the anti-gun establishment? Paul Helmke certainly says he wants more of it, so he closed down comments on Brady’s blog. Bryan Miller, President of CeaseFire PA and NJ, has this to say about us in the comments: As I’ve said previously, I have neither time nor inclination to respond to […]
In honor of reasoned discourse, there will be no comments to this post.
So, The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Ownership starts a blog. They get inundated with pro-gun comments. Two anti-gun commentators tilt at windmills. They stop allowing comments and cut off trackbacks citing a series called ‘reasoned discourse’ and noting some rather nasty comments they’ve received (none of which actually appeared on the blog). We mean […]
Looks like Ol’ Paul is incapable of it. Told ya. You take away the hysterics, lies and misrepresentations and they got nothing.
Called Armed with Reason, which seems to be lacking both arms and reason. It seems that stealing someone else’s images on the internet then using over the top, misleading rhetoric and general snottiness has worked so well for pro-gun blogs that the anti-gun side is going to give it a whirl. Via Sebastian who notes […]
And a touch of Reasoned Discoursetm
A new anti-gun blog? That can only mean new Reasoned Discoursetm.
Breda on trolls. I largely agree, though I do occasionally bring out the ridicule when they comment here. You know, shut up, he adults are talking kind of stuff. But that’s because it’s my house. And, thus far, we’ve mostly been free of trolls. But she’s right. They are not worth the time or effort. […]
Heh. Speaking of, several people have told me that the Protest Easy Guns facebook page is engaging in some Reasoned Discoursetm.
Indeed. At least Reasoned Discoursetm hasn’t broken out yet.
Reasoned Discoursetm
The Christian Science Monitor is istorically anti-gun and not bashful lying about gun issues. There was that time they told us, for instance, that Obama’s views on guns lined up with yours and that time they lied about Florida’s gun laws and that time they advocated the gun industry create it’s own licensing and registration […]
And Reasoned Discoursetm breaks out: In the future please ignore these Trolls as their comments will get removed. Looks to be going the same way as all their other online endeavors: The Brady’s also have a page on Facebook that has a forum for people who “join the group”. The majority of the posts and […]
Didn’t work them into a post, but some stuff: That thing that Hillary lied and said happened to her? Actually happened to U.S. congressman Donald Payne. Pirates make the news for taking a US ship. Pirates get killed. It took a few days longer than it should have. Right on cue, the AP comes out […]
Robyn Ringler says that her attempt at Reasoned Discoursetm brought frequent death threats. I think she’s full of crap, as usual, or she’d produce some evidence. But she can’t, really, since she never let any comments that didn’t fit the narrative get on the blog. She loses, we win, she plays the sympathy card. And, […]
Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
