Legal Insurrection and Judicial Watch file suit to obtain David Gregory gun law violation documents

Judicial Watch, a leading government open records organization, announced today that it has filed suit on behalf of Legal Insurrection to obtain documents regarding David Gregory’s violation of the District of Columbia gun laws and the investigation which led to the decision of the District of Columbia Attorney General not to prosecute

Like most things, breaking the law costs more. That’s on purpose.

Also, the state sheriff’s association has filed a brief against the bill.

Hopes are high that if this accomplice is captured, he’ll turn state’s witness and finger the gun that actually committed the crime.

And, speaking of Google Plus, I got this notification that I had to sign up for Google Plus to look at youtube videos. I have no need for G+ and don’t use it. But the weird bit was I got an email from them that went something like this:

Dear Say Uncle,

We noticed that your fake internet name appears to be a fake internet name. Here’s why it may be fake so click here to tell us it’s not. Until then, we’re suspending your Google Plus account.

Well, good, I don’t use it anyway.

The trouble with ditching google is that it would be a colossal pain in butt. I’ve used gmail forever, their calendar forever and android phones forever. They’re kind of useful and, frankly, excellent services that have been tools I’ve used for years.

But google is seriously freaking me out.

So, I think it’s time we said good bye. Seriously, I may switch to an iPhone over this.

Stapel designed one such study to test whether individuals are inclined to consume more when primed with the idea of capitalism. He and his research partner developed a questionnaire that subjects would have to fill out under two subtly different conditions. In one, an M&M-filled mug with the word “kapitalisme” printed on it would sit on the table in front of the subject; in the other, the mug’s word would be different, a jumble of the letters in “kapitalisme.” Although the questionnaire included questions relating to capitalism and consumption, like whether big cars are preferable to small ones, the study’s key measure was the amount of M&M’s eaten by the subject while answering these questions. (The experimental approach wasn’t novel; similar M&M studies had been done by others.) Stapel and his colleague hypothesized that subjects facing a mug printed with “kapitalisme” would end up eating more M&M’s.

Forget that it was all a fraud. Let’s assume that his “research” was flawless, not faked and, in every way, absolutely perfect. Top notch social science, even. What the fuck does it prove? Nothing. Zip. Nada. Zilch. Obama’s economic plan. Bupkis.

How is it useful? Not at all.

What’s the point? Grant money? Pushing a political philosophy, maybe.

This is “science”. And this stuff is taken seriously.
