Quote of the Day

Heh:

In the film [V for Vendetta], the anarchist revolutionary V incites the population of Britain to don his mask and rise up against the government, because nothing captures the spirit of anarchy better than a mob of people in identical uniforms unquestioningly obeying one man.

I couldn’t suspend disbelif on that film. #1 Britain facist and NOT socialist???
#2. The Sackless Brits who have NO problem with TV cameras everywhere and individual rights totally erased, standing up to thier lords-and-masters with such minimal prompting??

Oh and the lords and master accepting this? Film was CRAP!

  2. DirtCrashr Says:

Problem is their Lord and Masters have retired across the channel to Brussles, leaving an entrenchment of bureaucrats, puppets, and police to guard.

read the graphic novel version, it’s vastly better and interesting for its peering into the fascist future some 20 years ago.

In the comic, there’s a lot of emphasis on people wearing the masks (and their own clothing) for different reasons, without any directions from V or anyone else.

Of course, the comic actually makes the evil fascist government the only thing keeping the remaining dregs of humanity alive after a nuclear war, and points out that getting rid of or even standing up against the evil fascist government is certain to make a mess, so it’s pretty dramatically different from the film.

Heh. Took me a second, but, Heh.

My younger brother has often pointed out that anarchy, by definition, does not and cannot exist. The above statement says it pretty well. Gangs form automatically in the absence of other forms of government. Hell, they form in the presence of other forms of government.

Most people have no fucking clue what anarchy is. The most common definition is disregard of the legal system – which we already have in this country. I think the more accurate description is the absence of coercive violence. I would say the highway man is more noble than the g-man because he doesn’t follow you everywhere and life and incessantly steal a cut of every dollar you make. You have to work 30% to retire, 30% harder to provide for your children and feed them.

Pennsylvania was living in anarchy in the early 1600’s and they got along just fine until the Brits imposed their racket upon them. Give me liberty…

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
