Further, I submit that the following argument could be made credibly:
The Clinton “gun ban” efforts actually did, in a blind, blundering, round about way, serve to reduce crime through unintended consequences. Since they brought so many new gun owners into the fold (NRA membership skyrocketed at the same time, by the way) that could have been a factor in the flood of concealed carry shall issue laws around the country, resulting in more armed citizens deterring or stopping more crimes.

Cool. That’s exactly what got me to guy my first guns– the Brady Bill was coming down the pike. I bought a Glock at about the same time and for exactly the same reason.

I think this is what is referred to as “backlash”– “You want to ban it? Well then, I’m going to start doing it. Though I was never all that interested before, this may be my last chance…”

There are more people in this category than you’ll ever know. Ask any gun dealer who was in business before and during the Clinton administration. They’ll tell you the same thing. There was even a push to name Old Willy “Salesman of the Year”.

Those years were the genesis of both Boomershoot and UltiMAK to name just two that I personally know, plus several of my co workers and employees at the time went out and bought their first guns in the ’90s.

He just knew he had to have something that politicians were wanting to ban him having.

See, that’s the meat of the thing right there. If we can nurture that, keep that alive, we’ll be unbeatable.

Doesn’t matter if it’s full-capacity magazines, radar detectors, radio scanners, nitrous injection, Absinthe, browser proxies, pink handguns, or pr0n.

Preferably all of the above.

We don’t have gun owners like that ’round here. We have avid gun-nuts, and we have avid hunters. Anything less enthusiastic than that gives up before investing all the time any money into our permit process. And of course buying somthing because the govenment doesn’t want you to have it is also foolish here because all your guns are registered with the state so they know right where they are if they decide to confiscate.

This, free-staters, is why you need to fight.
