Internet Stupidity

In the beginning, I referred to the Internet as Al Gore’s Internet, since he invented it err took the initiative in creating the Internet or some other bogus claim. Then, after Veep Cheney referred to it as The Internets, I started calling it Al Gore’s Internets. Now, enter Ted Stevens (Insane Babbling Old Geezer – Alaska):

I just the other day got, an internet was sent by my staff at 10 o’clock in the morning on Friday and I just got it yesterday. Why?

I’m not quite certain how to incorporate that bit of dumb-assery into my blogging on Al Gore’s Internets vernacular but, rest assured, I’m working on it.

Remember, these guys who run the country are about as tech-savvy as a bottle of Dr. Pepper Berries & Cream. And they’re much closer to missile launch buttons than you and me.

Ted has a bridge he will sell you.

A living breathing example of why term limits are needed. I hate term limits but the danger of clowns like Ted are worse.

BTW, I heard manbearpig is on the run in Alcoa. Better get a pro to help you with that.

    With a tube, obviously.

I thought it was Bush 43 that said “Internets” in one of the 2004 debates? I remember cringing when he said it.

Regardless… Steven’s remarks scare the crap out of me.

Internets isn’t technically incorrect. There is the WWW which you and I use, and there is I2, the new University Internet. So Internets is a technically correct term, if one is referring to both of them.

  5. Fill Says:

How about ‘the Gore-sent Internets’? Like God-sent or heaven-sent….remarks to his inflated ego as well. Wan to know the difference between God and Al Gore? God doesn’t think he’s Al Gore.

    WWW does not equal “Internet.”

And yes, I2 is still part of the Internet as a whole every bit as much as my home LAN is.

I have to say, the “tubes” remark scares me more than any internet I might find in my inbox….

  8. Xrlq Says:

I agree with Justin – for there to be two or more Internets would require not only two backbones, but two worldwide networks, which do not connect to each other. Since they do, they’re one big Internet.

“Tubes” was the least odd thing he said in there. Tech geeks constantly refer to Internet connections as “pipes.” “Our pipe is full.”… “I opened up the pipe to 30Mbps” …. “There’s nothing coming down the pipe.”… etc.

They have tubes at the drive in at the bank. They make a whooshing sound. Maybe that is how Ted thinks the “Internets” work.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
