    They dont say how many where actualy prosicuted. They are giving an educated guess as to how many crimes they think these people would have commited.

    Scoot, the number “50” was mentioned in there. It’s not to clear, but as far as I could tell about 50 felons were caught with guns and send back to prison. Then they added up all the months of additional sentences for all of them and picked some number out of the air for how many crimes each one would commit a month. So 1635 crimes is a totally bogus number – but I think it’s more likely that they were low than that they were high. Assuming that they picked their targets well enough that they didn’t have to roust most of the ex-cons in town to catch those 50, it’s pretty hard to overestimate the rate at which such guys commit more crimes. Of course, most of those crimes consist of selling non-government-approved herbal or chemical concoctions to willing, if extremely stupid, buyers, but no doubt they actually did prevent hundreds of armed robberies, burglaries, car thefts, and shootings.
