Gas prices: perspective
The steady climb of gas prices hadn’t been a shock to me until recently. Used to take $30 to fill up the truck. It crept up to $40 and I wasn’t surprised when it hit right at the $50 mark. Gradually into the pool, and you don’t notice the chilly water so much (actually, I’m more inclined to dive into the pool). However, my true realization that gas prices were up came when I went to the store to fill up the gas can I use for my lawn mower. It cost $5.76.

It does hurt a bit at the pump. Which is why, as a candidate for U.S. Senate, I’m calling for a reduction of the gas tax.
The gas tax started as 3 cents a gallon to raise money to build the Interstate Highway system (which is essentially complete.) Now it is an 18.4 cent a gallon fund to pay for Congressional pork projects.

Lets see… it all started with energy policy …decided in secret… involving energy companies… then stonewalled by the executive branch… a little meddling in the Mideast.. de facto control of Iraqi oil … but it couldn’t have anything to do with the fact that we have a couple of oil men in the Whitehouse… Nah… that would be too cynical… hmmmm
