Found your post here via TTLB’s communities. This story is a crying shame…I’m an unabashed liberal, but what was done to Joe trancends politics. It’s simply wrong…from all I read of his story, the most he sounds guilty of is a) being outspoken and active and b) letting his family use his work laptop (and if it’s allowed to be taken home, it must not be classified…I work for the government too, and I know the rules on these things).

I blogged his story, and I’ll keep revisiting it. This is simply wrong!

Mr. Huffman has a case if he is a government employee, as amendment one has repeatedly been found to uphold speech aginst restraint by government employers.

Those of us that work for private employers are shitouttaluck. We have no 1st amendment protections against intrusion by our overlords.
