What possible purpose?

WATE writes:

Colleges would no longer be required to notify local law enforcement if a rape occurs on campus under a bill passed Monday evening by the Tennessee House.

Amendments call for colleges to inform victims of the availability of sexual assault programs.

The bill is scheduled for consideration Tuesday by the Senate Education Committee.

I can’t fathom a reason why this bill would be good. It would also be nice if WATE could have told us who (or how many) voted for it, who wrote it and who sponsored it.

Blake wonders the same thing.

Maybe Bill Clinton is coming there to teach.

I can. It would allow University administrators to continue to pretend their campuses (or is it campii?) are safe havens.

Not to mention it would help the coaches keep football players on the team.

Ding ding ding! We have a winner!

Just last year there were allegations of rape against a UT football player whose identity was protected not just by the university, but by the local media. Coach Fulmer visited with the victim and seems to have been successful at convincing her she was not raped, since the player started in the opening game.

Strongarming some poor young lady into thinking she’s a slut or a drunk is harder to do in the face of a lot of media attention. I guess they started thinking about what a nightmare it might have been if the Birmingham media took an interest, and they decided to take preventive measures. Pushing a crappy law through the sold-out state legislature is no doubt easier than teaching 19-year-olds with huge egos how to respect women.

I think that university administrations in general are terribly fearful of the public finding out what the true number of sexual assaults that happen on most campuses. I have no actual evidence to back up my hunch, but I’m pretty sure the numbers are a lot worse than is generally acknowledged.

And of course, most campuses are gun-free victim disarmament zones. And the pinko elites who teach there don’t want to give us any reason to challenge that.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
