In case you ever wonder why we gun owners are viewed as nuts

Bubba has a picture of a billboard advertising a local gun show. The problem with the billboard is that it says at the bottom in big letters: Randy Weaver Ruby Ridge.

Assuming that since Randy Weaver is an isolationist and will not actually attend the gun show (RK Shows, who is having the show doesn’t list him on their site), Bubba wonders what the point is. As do I.

Update: Countertop informs me in comments that Weaver is making the gun show circuit.

Update 2: Ace reporter Michael Silence did some actual, you know, journalism and confirms that Weaver is coming to the gun show.

My guess is that Randy Weaver will be there. He seems to travel the country now earning a living on CASH (not surprising) sales of his Ruby Ridge book at gun shows.

I’ve seen him at a bunch, including the joint Showmasters C&E show billed as The Nation’s Gun Show here in Virginia a couple of weeks ago. I blogged about the show here but don’t appear to have mentioned Randy’s presence. I thought I had written about what a turn off it was, but for some reason its not showing up in my entry. I may have posted about it over at the High Road.

Anyway, yes, I do think he will show up.

As sad as his story may be, I have little time for a guy who so willingly put his wife and son in harms way and now appears to be earning a nice living off of that.

If the gun show promoters actually cared about the second amendment, maybe they would stop inviting him (and the nazi paraphenalia dealers) to the show.

Racist gun heros. Just what we need.

Well I disagree with the idea that Weaver should be condemned for putting his family in harms way. The U.S. Marshalls started shooting first & weaver believed (not unjustifiably) that the government was out to harm them. I might have done things differently but not so much that it’d have involved trusting the feds at that point.

as far as him being racist -depends on your point of view. He wanted tolive around people of his own race. I don’t necessarily agree with him but I’ve never seen or heard anything from him that would point to his being more than a seperatist.

But weaver has been hitting the gun shows for some years now. & I really don’t see anything wrong or harmful about that.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
