After they ban semi-autos

Lever guns are next. I guess it’s sort of a lever gun. Why the gun control crowd in Australia thinks that a $2,500 rifle is something criminals would use, I dunno. Here’s a video showing its operation:

If that’s a “lever-action”, then Magpul makes 30-round AR “clips”.

    Selective pedantry chaps my ass.

  2. Mike Reagan Says:

So kind of a Remington 7600 with a bolt hold open after every shot?

  3. Bill Robelen Says:

Don’t let them see how bolt action rifles were used in WW1. British soldiers could get around 100 rounds per minute out of theirs.

  4. Matthew Guest Says:

    No, Bill. They could not.
While a soldier with an SMLE might conceivably have been able to get off 10 rounds in under 10 seconds (screaming fast), getting ten reloads in time would not have been possible, even assuming that a second ten-round magazine could be found. (In fact, all reloads were done using stripper clips.)
I don’t know what the real number was for how many rounds a Tommy could fire in a minute.
The world record for a Mad Minute was 38 rounds. That’s so astounding, I have trouble even believing it.

We will be dealing with this same shit in 2 years.

  6. Paul Says:

One can run a pump action rifle or shotgun very fast if skilled. And with the new magazine fed pump shotguns, they have sustained firepower.

  7. Sigivald Says:

Matthew – that’s aimed fire, note.

Not-very-aimed volley fire probably exceeded that slightly (I’d credit 40-45, tops), but 100 rounds a minute is just untenable, yes.

To do 100 rounds in 60 seconds is … implausible, due to reload time, and there are limits to how fast you can work the bolt.

(100 rounds in 60 seconds out of a SMLE might be believable if someone could rig up a reliable 100-round magazine, though.)

  8. Matthew Says:

Or, someone once fired 10 rounds from the hip in 6 seconds, and said, “Well, we could extrapolate…”

  9. Lyle Says:

Another rifle designed to temporarily appease politicians who hate an armed citizenry? Well there’s definitely a market niche.

Practically all firearms are now “lever action” by this definition, being as they have levers of some kind as part of the action.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
