Guy shoots self with full auto Glock

Dunno why you’d put a vertical grip on a Glock but it’s what appears to have failed:

Ouch! Lots of sub-guns have a vertical grip to combat the muzzle climb from shooting full auto. The problem with doing this on a Glock is that using a fore-grip with a short pistol barrel puts your hand right up next to the business end, which as evidenced, is a bad place to be.

  2. Paul Says:

ATF rules prohibit a vertical grip on a semi-automatic pistol.

    Was this a Glock 18?

Anyway the fool didn’t lock the grip into the slot well on the Glock frame. He won’t make that mistake again.

And folks, imagine what would happen if you had one of those 12 gauge pistols and THAT happened!

  3. Michael Quinn Says:

A Glock 18 is a Glock 17 with a fun switch. By being a machine gun it is its own thing. Not subject to the regulations of either a rifle or pistol.

This guy got lucky. It looked like a graze and he still has all his fingers. He’ll have a scar and a good story to tell. This kind of thing is why I think full auto on a pistol is about as useful as full auto on a 308 rifle. Just don’t.

@Michael Quinn, right, just don’t. I think it was Col Jeff Cooper, who said, “may your enemy always be on full-auto.” Semi-auto is best for accuracy and self defense which is why many of the anti-gun polticians want to ban them all and even confiscate them by “mandatory buyback” and then criminalize those who refuse to comply with their tyranny.

Before I put a suppressor on my .45 Mac 10, I would run it with a barrel extension with a vertical grip on it. Not for me, but for newbies to keep the forward hand well away from the muzzle. I never let anyone shoot it just using the strap. Jack.

Those who bad-mouth the G18 obviously don’t have any trigger time on one.
Yeah, if you are stupid enough to dump an entire G17 mag or happy-stick with one trigger pull, you’ll be wasting time and ammo. At least with the original version. The newer compensated version is probably better at muzzle control. My personal limit was 6 rounds for a head shot group, but bigger, heavier shooters might be capable of more. (I’m 115 lbs)

The select-fire Beretta 93R has a forward grip, and I wasn’t impressed with the results of using it. Your hands are too close together for good leverage, and it introduces muzzle weave, which seriously impacts accuracy. Better to keep both hands together as you would normally.

I think a more accurate label for the selector switch would be “crowd control”.

At CCA we had go-fast slide cover plates installed on a 17 and a 20. The 20 was a bit of a handful, but the 17 wasn’t bad if you were leaning into it.

I used to sponsor the employees a box of ammo to put through the 17 on their birthdays.

The irony is that the dude in the vid probably installed the VFG to keep his support hand from getting in front of the muzzle, and instead it tore loose with the opposite effect.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
