I don’t recall seeing it then either

The gun control study that really happened and you never saw

“…By contrast, 1 percent of dealers accounted for nearly 6 in 10 crime gun traces that year.”

I’m tired of this statistic. There are plenty of places out there that have FFLs but sell very few guns like rental ranges, pawn shops, gunsmiths etc. I’d like to know what fraction of all guns are sold by the top 1% of dealers. I’d bet it’s a lot and would make that statistic look less damning.

That’s exactly right, Michael; The statistic with REAL value would be the RATE at which crime guns are traced back to specific dealers.

A dealer that sells 100,000 guns per year and deals with 10-20 traces annually is less of a problem than the dealer that sells 100 guns per year and deals with 3-5 traces per year.

  3. Jay Eimer Says:

Easiest place to do a straw purchase – a big box retailer with a busy gun counter and an inexperienced clerk (Academy, bass pro, cabela’s, etc.) Places that sell the most guns in most bigger towns? The big box stores….

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
