Freedom is slavery or something

The ACLU: A Pro-Liberty Case for Gun Restrictions

In a nutshell, school shootings have lead to increased searches, more surveillance, and other things that infringe on liberty. If we had gun control, those would go away.

Except, you know, they will not go away no matter the gun control. The various Wars on Nouns would be the justification.

Hey; I have a bridge for sale too. Cheap. I mean, if you’re dumb enough to believe the ACLU then you’re certainly a potential customer.

But; tyrants gonna tyrant. There’s no amount of reality that will stop them. That much I’ve learned, for sure and for certain.

    “American”…”Civil Liberties”…”Union”. Heh.

Well, it is a fact that a predator must at least TRY to blend in with its prey. A very accomplished predator may be very good at blending in, but that doesn’t change his character— It makes him all the more dangerous.

You know what is a red flag, just looking at the name, even knowing nothing about them? Billy Beck brought this up years ago; they use the word “Liberties” (plural).

Liberty is a singular concept. You either have liberty, or it (not “they”) is in the process of being taken away, usurped, piece by piece (“Progressively”) until you’re so restricted that you’re unable to do anything about it. Once we start talking about “liberties” we’re no longer talking about “liberty”. See what they did there? It’s quite clever.

The ACLU gave up on the First Amendment, so they should probably rebrand. “The American Socialist Party” perhaps?

  3. Remington 700 Shooter Says:

Giving the government more control over citizens’, you are risking that these powers be used improperly and will lead to tyranny.

  4. Sigivald Says:

Ref above, “civil liberties” is a real, useful thing.

The First, Second, Third, etc. Amendments each guarantee a civil liberty [or a set of civil liber…ties] from the State’s interference.

Combine more than one, and you get … a plural.

The plural is neither incorrect nor a red flag nor in any way problematic there.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
