You get a felony and you get a felony

New York gun owners had until this week to register their guns with the state police. 81,000 of them didn’t comply. Registration (and apparently lack of registration) leads to confiscation:

The next big question is how this registry is going to be used and who’s going to follow up with gun owners. Laura Cutilletta, legal director for the Giffords Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence, believes it could be a game-changer for police.

If there wasn’t already a registry, how would then know?

Perhaps there will be some “deferred action”, “sanctuary cities” or even “amnesty” for these citizens. Or is such only reserved for aliens who violate immigration laws?

In other news: New York experiences record number of boating accidents!

  3. LC Scotty Says:

Here in NY you need a pistol permit to own/possess/tote/touch a handgun legally. You can’t even handle on in the gun store w/o the permit. Prior to SAFE act, all permits were for life until revoked, and each permit containes a list of all pistols owned by permittee. SAFE made all permits a 5 year renewable, and so since it’s 5 years post SAFE, all permits issued before safe needed to be renewed.

Funny thing is, most new yorkers I’ve met act like they’ve won the lottery when they say they’re from there. Please, please, please, just don’t come up north. Keep that poison to yersef.

  5. Paul Says:

And Tim, I hope the don’t come South or Mid West either. They made their shithole.. they can live in it.

  6. Bill Twist Says:

    @Tim, North to where? Canada?

Also, don’t mistake “NYC” with “NY”. A large part of New York state doesn’t want to have anything to do with the idiots in NYC. All of the resistance to the SAFE Act has been in upstate areas. It’s not really enforced, and the police have no interest in enforcing it, except as something like an additional charge if you’ve committed some other felony.

  7. DJ Says:

There’s already a database unbeknown to the general public.

Clark County Coroner releases 58 autopsy reports, all names redacted, no ballistics, Stephen Paddock’s autopsy kept secret

Yes there’s a registry, and not just for New Yawk. YBMV.

@ Bill Twist, correct, it’s not a nation or state thing but a city/county and numbers thing:

And it’s a SIN. Stop Immigration Now!

  11. Izapole Says:

It’s not going to end well. I feel sorry for the rest of NY state. It is so beautiful.

  12. HankR Says:

It’s not really enforced, and the police have no interest in enforcing it,…

    Until they do.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
