The night they drove old Dixie down

Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede, a local dinner and a show, is dropping Dixie from its name.

It’s craven appeasement to prejudice and bigotry.

  2. JTC Says:

Bye Dolly…you always were an embarrassing clown poser anyway.

  3. wizardpc Says:

She’s always been a Democrat who’s known who butters her bread. She might be surrounded by enough execs now that she’s forgotten.

  4. Mike Voncannon Says:

Not that it’ll matter but: Dolly doesn’t own the company, she gets a fee for the us of her name, same as with Dollywood (same corporate ownership). Also, she has no management or decision making role in the company. They don’t make a misstep often but when they do, it’s really something.

  5. Ron W Says:

@Mike Voncannon, you’re probably right about Dolly. “The company” is engaging in craven appeasement to prejudice and bigotry against a whole region of our country. And “not that it’ll matter” since some prejudice and bigotry is now deemed politically-correct and appropriate by mainstream media and intelligentsia.

  6. Mike Voncannon Says:

Ron, the reason I said that is Dolly seems to be getting the blame for something she had no control over and people rarely let facts get in the way…

  7. JTC Says:

Think Trump would leave his name on one of the many buildings, properties, and products he licenses it to if managers perpetrated that kind of racist classist shit?

His name is his brand. He understands that. Dolly does too but doesn’t give a shit because her persona is as fake as those mountains of fat on her chest.

  8. Ron W Says:

@Mike Voncannon, yes, that’s the reason I wrote, “you’re probably right about Dolly”.

  9. Fred Says:

I’m glad I saw it before this beclownment. It really is the hokeyest, sillyest thing but, GREAT horsemanship and good fun for the whole family. Liberals ruin every thing.

I’m not really down with the Dolly bashing. She hit it big and gives it all back to the local hollers where she grew up. Her companies employ thousands in the least objectionable forms of entertainment left in ‘Merka. Good on Dolly. And she will send a book to ANY child if they or their parents wants one. Ever seen any of these super sports ‘heros’ or Hollywood ‘entertainers’ create a whole economy out of abject poverty in their home region and give millions of books to children? Of course not. She’s a national treasure and a fine example of how it’s done.

We love you Dolly and we’re sorry to see the SJW’s ruin one of your wonderful venues.

  10. Ron W Says:

Liberals are no longer–liberal. Otherwise they would be tolerant of and celebrate ALL cultural diversity like regional pride and heritage. But now they are prejudiced and bigotted toward Southern heritage and pride. They engage in the very thing they claim to oppose. Imagine that! And then we have those who capitulate to and appease it; sad and pathetic!

  11. JTC Says:

The terms of a licensing agreement certainly cover things as major to the public perception as this. The only reason not to object to such racist classist leftist shit as this is concern about the money.

Down home Dolly is afraid to risk her dollars in a battle to protect her own honor and heritage…like most in all fields of infotainment.

It’s an old refrain but among the truest of truisms; follow the money, always follow the money.

I’m a Middle Tennessean born and bred, and it is both hurtful to see our history trashed and embarrassing to see it sold out for cash.

This really is a shame. probably my favorite of the “dinner and a show” type establishments. Guess I’ll be taking the kiddo to Medieval (Huzzah!) Times now instead. it’s almost as much fun anyway, and the joust at the end is awesome.

  13. poobie Says:

Also, who the hell decided that the leukemia ribbon is friggin Tennessee orange? This whole thing is bullshit, but man, talk about adding insult to injury for a Bama grad…

  14. Ron W Says:

@JTC, yep, the entertainment industry has many righteous SJW’s among whom Dolly associates and has been accepted so she doesn’t want to have “any appearance of evil” which may incur their ire.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
