I have been successfully marketed to

Apparently, everywhere I look a company called UNTUCKit has been marketing to me. They make casual shirts designed to be worn untucked. I mean, you can tuck them if you want. But they’re tapered a bit differently and aren’t too long when not tucked. I am not certain if, as part of their marketing plan, the online ads targeted me because I’m a gun person and Google ad services would know that. But the idea intrigued me a bit. A lot of gun folks wear something akin to what Tam calls “the gun burka.” Or dress like, as PDB* called them, tactical hobos. You know, oversized shirts, shoot me first vests, etc. And I was one to wear a button down shirt untucked regularly.

Anyway, I finally bought one. And wore it out on my birthday. And then I bought five more. I like them. I bought a basic white shirt. And a few flannel shirts. And some other patterned shirts. They look great, hide my gun and hide my Clinch Pick. They look decent with a jacket and are well made shirts.

But make sure you size up. That was one of the first complaints I saw at Amazon on them. So instead of a large, I got the XL.

You can get them at Amazon or their website UNTUCKit.com.

* Peace be upon his blog.

Update: They do not appear to market to gun toters openly. But they probably should.

Fishing shirts for concealed carry. Love them.

  2. rickn8or Says:

Trouble is, I taper out where the shirt tapers in.

  3. Steve Says:

Rush has been doing advertising for them, so there’s that conservative/gun owner link.

  4. MrSatyre Says:

At those ungodly prices, I’ll stick with my waaaaay cheaper untucked and slightly longer “average” shirts.

  5. Fin Says:

At 69.00 to 80.00 bucks a shirt, I don’t care how good they are. Good for you that you got 6 of them. Next up, Uncle endorses Cabot 1911’s and buys 3 of them.

  6. Jonathan Says:

Yeah, I’ll just keep buying Duluth shirts, which I still find ridiculously expensive, but I can get two for one of those.

  7. Huck Says:

I took a look at them on Amazon and aint impressed. Primarily because they don’t look like they hang very far below the waist.

  8. Ron W Says:

@Huck, that’s my impression and, @Fin, their cost is prohibitive in my opinion. They certainly don’t appear to be concealable of what I normally carry. And I don’t want to be like Army vet, Erik Scott, who while shopping in a Las Vegas Costco, inadvertently exposed his legal CCW. It was witnessed by another vigilant shopper who reported it. The Las Vegas PD came and gunned him down in the parking lot.

Nope! Any commercials appealing to the exercise of armed self defense would be rejected. It’s completely within corporate political-correctness to subject gun toters to the derision of prejudice and bigotry.

Jonaothan, right you are about Duluth Trading Co. merchandise. I was lured in early with their extra 3″ longer tee and polor shirts. These don’t look like they’d stay tucked in at all, nor cover an EDC.

And Ron W, I’m not worried about a professional (cop, etc.) spotting my EDC, I’m hiding it from the pearl-clutching soccer mommies.

  11. Ron W Says:

@rickn8or, but it’s “the pearl-clutching soccer mommies” who call the cops to hysterically report a “gunman” or an “active shooter”. And they come runnin’ much more ready to overreact.

  12. rickn8or Says:

@ Ron W, “See a man with a gun, panic, call another man with a gun to save you.”

Interesting indeed, Unc. Nice looking garments. I’ve mostly switched over to Brooks Brothers for button downs and polos; they last enough longer than the cheaper stuff I’d been getting that the cost difference is neutral, and they’re nicer looking to begin with.

Would be interested in seeing a longer term report on these, if you remember and feel like it; like you say, these are right in my wheel house.

I bought two of them just before Thanksgiving. They are nice shirts. I will do it, but I find tucking around my “Crossbreed” to be an annoyance. With these untuckit shirts, I can’t carry owb (they are tailored and fit well), but I can carry iwb without having to tuck around the holster. They have made wearing a nicely fitted dress shirt less annoying.

  15. Joe A Says:

I’m with the “Too rich for my blood” crowd. I could by my usual wally world shirt and have a neighborhood seamstress alter it, and still be well under half the price of those – all while stimulating both a foreign and a local enonomy!

  16. Skip Says:

Carhartt tees and Van Heusen work for me. Leaves a little for more ammo.

  17. Don Says:

If you are of average height then you could go look at some of the shirts from a Tall Man catalog to get the longer lengths. It would be a lot cheaper.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
