Registration leads to confiscation
Hawaii has a gun registry. They also have a registry of medical marijuana users. So, you know where this is going? Yup, people who show up on both lists got a letter from the police saying turn in the guns.

That’s actually a question on the NICS form. They might could be prosecuted, though a defense lawyer would likely argue that the usage is legally sanctioned.

I think being on the medical marijuana registry means you shouldn’t have to be on the gun registry, because that would be self-incrimination. Not sure how lying on the 4473 fits into this model, however.

Note: just because your state made it legal does not mean the fedgov did.

Unless the registry only indicates the presence of state-level permission to use, as opposed to actual use.
Ideal test case would be someone on medical MJ registry (AFAIK no law against being on a list) who does not possess or use any illegal substance, in compliance with federal law & can prove it, who was forced to turn in registered guns. Thus didn’t lie on form. That one, if you can find it, could be very interesting.

The ideal test case would be to burn DC to the ground and hang them all from the neck until dead. Then, move on to the states.

USA has a gun registry, conveniently combined with a pot smoker registry. You say the fibbies don’t keep the former when you buy a gun to enforce your veracity on the latter? So cute.

Good thing Hawaii is surrounded by water on all sides. It makes a boating accident that much more plausible.
