Those look cool

Chris talks about some electronic ear plugs. They look like they would, indeed, be more comfortable and convenient. But $300 for ears seems a bit high.

Go price a pair of hearing aids and you’ll have a new appreciation for the price of these things.

It isn’t the earplugs you are paying to operate.
It is your own ears you are paying for, to keep them working.

I got a good deal on a set of Howard Leight electronic ear muffs last year through Amazon. They work fine. The plugs would have to come way down in price to justify the purchase.

I have a set of 3M Peltor TEP-100 electronic ear plugs, and I love them.

IIRC $225 or so on Amazon, but I did have trouble getting them shipped to Australia.

There are two things I would like to add/change:
    – custom molded tips
    – active noise cancelling

Some hearing centers make non electronic custom ear plugs much cheaper and once they have the mold of your ears, replacements if needed are cheaper. Including here https://bhssinc.com/

I’d want to know how they do under high tension power lines. My muffs always buzz. Also, how do they do for directional discrimination? Muffs are fine on a right-to-left basis, but offer no discrimination between front and rear. I simply can’t wear them hunting for that reason. And; wind noise? The otherwise greatest active system is often shit in the wind. If these issues aren’t addressed then I can’t believe they’re being very serious.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
