Why do they keep doing this?

Another gun control group has changed its name. How many different names did the Brady Campaign have before it became irrelevant.

  1. Ellen Says:

There is something seriously wrong with any group that has to change its name regularly.

  2. Thirdpower Says:

All of the major anti-gun groups have regularly ‘re-branded’ themselves.

  3. SPQR Says:

    All the names

  4. Lyle Says:

They’re trying as hard as they can to avoid the inevitable name of “Communists for Satan”.

  5. Tirno Says:

As a movement that advances on a tide of emotional response, you have to come up with a new emotional appeal when the old one gets stale.

When your stance is based on fundamental principles, you never have to change. “Your life is your own, and it is valuable; this is universally true” is going to naturally lead to “No one should deprive you of that life unjustly” then to “Your life should be defended” then to “Nobody is as invested in your continued living as you are” finally to “Self-defense is a natural, inalienable right.”

  6. Dittybopper Says:

They have to “rebrand” themselves to remain relevant. Meanwhile, the National Rifle Association has had the same name since it’s founding in 1871, nearly 150 years ago.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
