Story coulda been much worse than simply arresting a guard for making up a fake assailant. Cops could have found and shot someone they thought was the assailant, all for the sake of this man’s lie.

Also the whining about students being traumatized and living in fear has me shaking my head.
I guess growing up during the cold war, I definitely can’t relate to the snowflake generation’s constant angst.

I remember reading about an off duty cop carrying a revolver with a wide trigger shoe in one of those holsters, trigger shoe caught when putting the gun in the holster and he shot himself in the armpit

Along with the ways mentioned above, one can also be aiming at one’s own head, decide that was enough Russian Roulette for one shift, lower the handgun to “port arms” held across the chest, and then negligently pull the trigger.
My way makes more sense than inventing an imaginary assailant, at least.

I’ve seen people check their revolvers to see if they were loaded by looking down the front of the chambers… i.e. the barrel, to see if there were bullets in it.
So maybe they check their Glocks that way to, with their finger on the trigger.

Since the article states those guards aren’t armed, I’m guessing he was wearing a horizontal/angled/or vertical shoulder rig under his shirt. Very discrete, but re-holstering can be a problem, since you can’t really see it well, and it is easy to end up with the muzzle covering the shoulder.
Lots of holster makers suggest removing all concealed holsters to replace the pistol, due to this sort of difficulty in accessing it. The more deeply concealed, the more sense this makes. Otherwise, lots of empty practice while wearing the actual clothes you intend to employ.
BTW, this particular carry is called the “Superman Carry”, since the fastest access is to rip the shirt open by popping off the buttons. Better is to use velcro dots, with the buttons sewn to the outside.
