Slogans on guns

A while back I mentioned the case of a police officer who was on a murder rap and his AR-15 ejection cover was engraved with “You’re fucked”. And pondered if it was a good idea or not.

Well, the judge said that the engraving will not be revealed to the jury. I’m sure they’d do the same if this was Non-officer Bubba and his home built AR with a skull lower had a similar engraving on it, right?

The question is “does its potential for unfair prejudice outweigh its probative value?” and the answer is up to the discretion of the court.

This exact fear is why my home and personal defense firearms as bog standard from the factory.

Yeah I have a punisher plate on the back of my IDPA glock17, but my Daily Carry G19 bog stock. Same reason I dont carry reloads for self defense, and I am not saying that others should not do it, I carry the same type of ammo as the local police department, because I hope that if I ever have to use it, that would give me another layer of defense.

I would be much more upset if he said, “your fucked.”

    But yeah, cop privilege.

I don’t see how the judge could rule here. I mean, if he just had a punisher logo, maybe, but writing “you’re fucked”? I don’t see how you could read that unfairly.

In New Jersey it would be a crime to use hollow point ammo.

As I understand it, the judge said the prosecutor couldn’t point it out to the jury. If the jury is allowed to view the rifle and they “just happen to see it” (That does happen BTW), then they’ll be arguing about a mistrial.

The case SHOULD turn on whether the shooting was reasonable or not. But ask George Zimmerman how that works.

So does a Hello Kitty or Smiley Face engraving work the same way for the defense, or is that just wishful thinking?

It could mean that he got a jam, or he’s empty, and he’s the one who’s f***ed. That’s not a bad argument. Who’s most likely to see the inside, repeat *the inside*, of the ejection port cover and under what circumstances?

So, yeah, this is the kind of stuff that confuses a jury and distracts from the issue in the case — who did what to whom and what law if any did it violate? Morons are entitled to a fair trial, too.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
