Nah. This might be too much information. But not Uncle’s version.

  3. JFT Says:

Been there, done that. Frickin’ broth diet was the worst part by far.

  4. KEN B. Says:

Quit complaining, I have had them every 5 years since I was 37 and now I’m 74 and it is down to 3 years.

  5. Tim Says:

You ‘win’, Joe. Can I have those meds, now?

  6. Jerry The Geek Says:

Friends don’t show friends their Colonoscopy photos.

  7. Glenn Says:

Beats the consequences of NOT doing it…

  8. poobie Says:

Suck. I’ve still got a few years before those hit my plate, thankfully. The annual EGD is plenty, though.

  9. Deaf Smith Says:

Whats a colonoscopy? See I’ve never had one. 62 and counting. Since my family does not have a history of it, I see no reason to get it.

They say “Colon cancer screening should begin at age 50 for most people. If a colonoscopy doesn’t find adenomas or cancer and you don’t have risk factors, the next test should be in ten years. If one or two small, low-risk adenomas are removed, the exam should be repeated in five to ten years.”

Here is a good article on it.

Yeah, i started them early. Broth was a life safer, hated the posciles and sweet drinks I was living on in earlier ones.

The other thing I found helped was cutting out meat the week before.

  11. RandyGC Says:

Broth? You get broth? Wow, you’re lucky. Not on the list from my doc.

History for 2 generations on my side of the family so every 5 years since I was 45. So far so good…

After this is over, you’ll be glad you did it.
    Not until then, however.

Several years ago an Ignobel Prize was awarded to an article that explained why the evacuation is done. If you don’t, when they doc hits the buzzer you explode.

    Feel better now?

    GoLytely. It’s got electrolytes.

  16. Tokarev Says:

    This too shall pass.

  17. StevG Says:

Have one coming up soon. The joys of a chronic illness that I just found out might be related to meds the Military gave me. http://www.collective-evolution.com/2014/01/06/gulf-war-illness-tied-to-cipro-antibiotics/

@StevG, How dare you question the government-medical-pharmaceutical complex!

“Unless we put medical freedom into the Constitution, the time will comewhen medicine will organize into an undercover dictatorship to restrictthe art of healing to one class of Men and deny equal privileges to others; the Constitution of the Republic should make a Special privilege for medical freedoms as well as religious freedom.”

My next one is coming up next year. My doctor immediately scheduled a colonoscopy for me after they found a large tumor in my dad’s colon that required removal of part of the large intestine.

When my dad found his tumor the age for colonoscopies had just gone up from 40 to 50.

It ought to be dropped to 20. One of the college kids who played rec hockey with my group went from supposedly healthy to Stage 4 colon cancer in a matter of weeks. He died right after his 21st birthday. There was no history of cancer in his family.
