In NJ

That’s right, in NJ

NRA ILA:

Yesterday, Governor Chris Christie announced that his administration has formally adopted the police rules introduced in 2016 which more clearly define the state’s “justifiable need” standard for issuance of concealed carry permits. For years, the state’s unreasonable standard has been used to reject the overwhelming majority of applications for concealed carry permits. While citizens in 43 states are able to exercise a basic, fundamental right under permissive carry laws, New Jersey issues virtually no permits.

I’m not familiar enough with the legal machinations of NJ to know if this is a big deal or not. But I like seeing Christie take a step toward looking out for gun rights.

“Taking a step forward”. That’s like a serial robber “taking a step forward” by committing ten percent fewer roberies this year compared to last. Gold star. “A” for effort. A real fucking hero. Set him up in the UN as head of the Humand Rights Council.

It’s not a big deal, in the sense that it will still be hard to get an NJ permit, but right now it’s pretty much impossible. This is probably all Christie has the power to do without the legislature acting, which is controlled by anti-gun Democrats in New Jersey.

Christie is the main reason New Jersey hasn’t joined New York and California in sliding into the gun rights abyss. Gun owners there are in for a lot of hurt when Christie and his veto pen leave office.

    Gun owners there should leave.

When I lived in NJ, it took three months of BS to get a permit to purchase a handgun. The only point of this process is to discourage you. I can’t see them issuing more carry permits just because they “clearly define the … standard.”

In 2016, the NJ Legislature prohibited the adoption of these rules. Who governs the permit process, the executive or the legislative branch?

  6. Drake Says:

The only hope for NJ is national reciprocity. Christie is gone at the end of this year – most likely replaced by a Democrat.

    Mikee –
In NJ, the Legislative Branch writes/passes the actual laws, which, if signed by the Governor or over-ridden, are then “implemented” by the Executive Branch (which includes the State Police, who issue actual firearms procedures …).

If it’s not the Legislature screwing The People, it’s Rhino governors like Christie Todd ‘T!tless Witless’ Whitman (who vetoed an AW Ban repeal bill).

Gov Krispy Cream didn’t do much of anything to undo the harm anti-gun laws/policies create, although he did veto a .50-cal gun ban and pardoned 2 people who were lawfully transporting and got abused by the system.

    John H –
I left Nazi Jerzey a number of years ago for Free America. Haven’t been back since, and definitely won’t end up being planted there.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
