That’s frightening

Meet Statie the Police Elf

  1. Ken in NH Says:

    It’s Massachusetts, whaddya expect?

  2. Jay Says:

Give me a break. Of all the things to get excited about this is NOT on the list. It’s an extension of the whole “Santa sees you when you’re sleeping, knows when you’re awake….” mantra that parents have been doing to their kids for eons. The Statie (that’s what we call them up here) is not out to get you or anyone else. How about we just take a step back from the edge and enjoy Christmas? Merry Christmas to one and all!

  3. Lyle Says:

Jay; how about the state and the cops NOT trying to co-opt Christmas by inserting themselves into it? How would that be, for a change? How about a little respect, as opposed to vying for attention?

Now if they sold those same dolls for pistol practice targets at local ranges, for training kids to shoot, would you flip your lid? And how would you react to me saying; “Oh give me a break; it’s all in fun. Don’t get your panties in a bind. Surely there are other things to be concerned about.”?

And while we’re at it, let’s replace some figure in a Muslim holy day observance with “Statie, the Ramadan Rabbi Barbie (Now with Silicone Implants!)” and then see who gets admonished, and by whom, and how many “Oh, lighten up!” comments come from whom.

Then we’ll see a whole different set of responses, exposing the hypocrisies of the statist shitheads who mainly want us to think about THEM 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

On the other hand, let the staties stay the fuck out of people’s faces, do what they’re fucking hired to do, and otherwise generally back the fuck off and stop trying to hog the spotlight. How would that be? If they want attention. They can get it by being more helpful, and not by making dolls and inserting images of themselves.

  4. Publius Says:

Presumably this is simply meant to ensure the safety of the children.

  5. John Says:

Geezus Lyle, get back on your meds. It’s called community outreach.

  6. chiefjaybob Says:

Where’s Mark Matis when you need him?

  7. Jay Says:

    Lyle

I don’t think they are “inserting themselves” or “co-opting” Christmas. I just think it’s a way for them to be seen by the larger public in a positive light. The fact that they are doing things that thousands of parents do throughout the country (and have a bit of fun with it) is just a way for the public to see them as normal human beings. If the local public utility workers dressed an elf up in a lineman’s outfit and took pictures of him working on an electrical line would that be offensive? I think they’re just trying to have a bit of fun. I’m sorry that you’re offended by the whole thing. I hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas Lyle!

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
