Guns in schools

Over half of Floridians are OK with trained personnel going armed in public schools.

Actually, I’m okay with anybody who is legally armed anywhere else being armed in schools.

In fact, I helped keep personnel at the small town (but still problem-laden) high school that was across from my pawn/gun store for about twenty years armed regardless of official sanction.

In most cases it was a lot more about protecting themselves from grown thug students than from outside threats. I probably sold a few dozen handguns over those years to everyone from two different principles, vice principles, counselors, and several to one dean who just liked guns.

And I don’t think there was ever an incident of misuse or even being caught with the forbidden evil tools on campus. Yes, it’s a fairly conservative semi-rural area but it’s more just the simple fact that responsibly armed people in public do not result in anything bad and quite likely can play a part in preventing or dealing with anything bad in the possible but very unlikely event that armed intervention is needed.

Just another public place where the Constitutional right to self-protection, and the sanctioned ability to be prepared for the protection of innocent others, should not only not be barred, but should be encouraged.

My vice principal is a former sheriff’s deputy.

I became a teacher after I retired from over 20 years as a firefighter and paramedic, where I spent part of my career working with the SWAT team. I spent years as an IDPA competitor, and I am a military veteran. I have carried a concealed weapon for more than 25 years.

Neither one of us can carry a weapon.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
