Wal Mart discontinuing 22LR ammo?

At least at one store. To his benefit.

Our local Wal Mart, as of Tuesday, still limited sales to three boxes. And there was an empty space on the shelf where the $199 Ruger American Rifles were supposed to be. But they had a sign for them.

According to the guy at the Local Walmart there are a few people who show up the morning the truck comes in and buy all the .22 ammo.

I haven’t seen a box of .22 on the shelf at a Wal-Mart in a couple of years, although they all have signs stating a limit of three boxes. There are no spaces on the shelves for them, either.

For about a month my local Walmart was getting the 1400 round bucket of bullets every Wednesday. I bought one 3 weeks in a row.

Just bought 3 boxes of CCI last night at Walmart. That was the max allowed, and the boxes were 50 instead of 100 rounds. In effect, I paid over twice what I would have pre-2012. When I got home, I realized they were copper bullets, which may explain some of the expense. Not what I was looking for at all.

This is the case at the WalMart near me as well.

My local gun shore seems to have plenty of .22 ammo here lately. The 500 rd pkgs are Aguilla which is made in Me’ico.

It is worth noting that when a mod at Walmart drops a product, it doesn’t mean Walmart is permanently stopping selling that product. Walmart mods change with the seasons, and regularly bring back products. It also may reflect a problem getting product to sell.

I don’t think Walmart gives a shit either way. If the guns and ammo gather dust, they don’t see any reason to re-stock. I support my local gun shops and never have any reason to shop at Walmart anyway. They may have lower prices but they treat their own people like shit.

I don’t like paying a price for .22LR that is so inflated. I only have a few thousand rounds left, but it should last until I get rich enough to afford shooting at the range again.

Whoever coined the phrase “turning money into noise” deserves more recognition.

Meh. I cast, load and shoot my own cheaper than what .22lr costs these days. Stock up on primers……

3days ago my local Walmart in Delray beach fl. Said Walmart is discontinuing 22 ammo. At the time the ammo display cabinet, and the storage below where full with all types of ammo, but no 22’s.

It may be the case of a lazy ass department manager. My girlfriend is an assistant manager at Walmart and her store has been hit & miss with alotta ammo brands/calibers here lately.

I usually but Perfecta .223 at her store, but here lately they have have had no Perfecta of any caliber. I asked her to look it up and the inventory computer says it’s still a stocked item with units at the DC but none on order for us.

She then explained that the Dept. Mgr. is slack that and isn’t keeping up with store demand because auto-order inventory system doesn’t handle all inventory items – like ammo.

Talk to your store manager – ask for them by name and tell them to stock more. There is .22LR out there in the system.

I had found that at some stores the scalpers had made friends with overnite stockers that would pass on info as to when .22LR was to be stocked or the Dept. Mgr. was in with the scalpers.

In one store my girlfriend had told me exactly what their shipment consisted of – 2 cases / 20 boxes – 500 rnd Federal bulk packs and bunch of 50 rnd Federal small box. When I got to the store I could see the bulk packs not in the ammo case but under the counter – so when you asked for .22LR ya got handed 3 50 rnd boxes. I called BS and told him I wanted 3 of the bulk boxes, he said he didn’t have any. I called for his manager and he suddenly remembered he had some under the front counter…..never got any more there. Apparently he hides it in a better spot out of sight.

    ChinaMart.
Only reason I went there was during the Panic of 2012. I live right next to one and could push my son over on a walk if I felt the urge.

I try not to shop there.

Last thing I bought was a Sawyer filter and it wasn’t at the “next door” one either, that place doesn’t have any.

The ChinaMart next to me only sold ammo, not guns.

I just today confirmed this with our Wal-Mart. 1 box left of 22 LR. Some 17 HMR. Not sure, forgot to ask, if it is all rimfire or just 22 LR.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
