Excellent

Seniors in America are a growing gun owning demographic.

    With age, often comes wisdom.

You grow into it, don’t you? That gun you got in your twenties, that saved you once or twice in your thirties? It “gave you something to think about” in your forties, and probably had something to do with you surviving to be a “senior.” So it’s not all just (us) old folks crotcheting out in the Oldsmobile to get a gun. Most of us have had that gun, or a few, for decades.

    There’s an uncomfortable flip-side.

We all cheer the growing support of gun rights and gun ownership by all demographics, especially “seniors”, one of whom I just became when I turned 62 and signed up for SS.

But here in the Q-tip capital of Central FL it’s particularly obvious that there’s a shit-ton of oldsters who shouldn’t be in control of lethal weapons, whether a 300 hp Lincoln or a 380 cal Ruger.

There’s no real competence test for either, and I’m wont to head down that slippery path anyway. There’re a lot of facets and even blame for some of what I see,(like the dumbass clerk who sold an 84 year old guy that came in my store a damn Bond 410/45 as the perfect personal defense gun), but again, slippery slope and no easy answers.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
