Top 3 gun wants

A list, from Oddball. I’ve pretty much got all the guns I need. Assuming no concern for price or anything, my list of wants would 1) a big ass revolver, like this Korth here. I’ve never been really into wheelguns but they look like they’d be a blast.

2) A machine gun. Just to say I have a machine gun. Probably a registered M16 lower that I’d get all Magpul fanboy on.

3) A mid to long range gun that, probably in .308, to shoot Boomershoot.

I have a deal with the wife that I can get an M16 as soon as I make in a month what an M16 costs.

    It’s win-win

  2. Kristophr Says:

If expense IS an object, consider a Ruger SuperRedhawk.

I talked Mr Completely into buying one after a I placed second in a pin shoot he set up, using a 10.5″ SRH in .480 Ruger.

( TK Custom does full moon conversions on them, and actually has .480 Ruger full moon clips … )

I just can’t shoot revolvers worth shit. Not that I’m any great shakes with an autoloader, but I plain suck with a wheelgun.

in terms of things I’m actually likely to be able to acquire,

    1. SCAR 17, preferably the 20″.

    2. a decent sub-gun. an M-16 lower would suffice, but man, they’ve gotten spendy.

    3. some kind of bullpup, either an AUG or a Tavor. because spacegun.

I am such a gun-hipster. BTW, if you get a chance, try out a Sig P320; I picked one up a few weeks back, and I really dig it. the trigger is really nice for tupperware, and for whatever reason, the Sigs still seem to fit me better than the Glocks and S&Ws. Not giving up my Shield or anything, but I’m pretty impressed with the sig.

I have a serious case of the wants over Ruger’s new Super Blackhawk Bisley in .454 Casull. I have no idea what I’d do with it, but I sure do like it.

Then I’d like to try some sort of long-range setup in 6.5mm Creedmoor.

Last but not least, I’d like a *nice* 1911. Not necessarily a full on, bespoke custom gun…just a nice Nighthawk or Ed Brown.

Poobie, if your revolver has a heavy DA pull that can majorly affect your shooting. Try one with a decent DA, like a S&W model 10. My Model 10 is sweet in both DA and SA.

Dave, I have a Ed Brown Kobra Carry. (My… Precious…) It’s the rolls Royce/Ferrari/Lamborghini of M1911s. It’s pricy as hell but if you want a awesome custom pistol it’s worth it. And I’d long wanted a custom pistol.

  6. John Wheatley Says:

I already have a gun (G19) and rifle (CZ858), but still missing a shotgun. After trying a few my favourite is Mossberg 930 – so hopefully that’s gonna be my third.

  7. Alien Says:

Jonesing for a Ruger Precision ver 3.0 in 300 WinMag (hopefully soon, now that Savage has their precision M10 in it).

  8. Lyle Says:

In addition to precision, Boomerchoot targets need velocity at target. That means a good BC and a good launch speed. In 30 cal the ’06 would edge out the .308 when using the heavier, high BC bullets.

I’d say talk to Joe, but it seems to me the fast 6.5s are near ideal for that particular exercise. A 300 mag or 7 mag will do as well but it’ll beat you up a bit where the 6.5s won’t. A typical ammo consumption would be about 100 rounds for the main event on Sunday.

  9. Dave Says:

For some reason I can’t fully explain, I like the Tabuk dmr I first read about years ago. The idea of shoehorning a modified AK in to a designated marksman role was interesting to me. I wouldn’t mind owning a replica of one of those.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
