Big news for Shooting Illustrated

They’re set to become NRA’s Official Journal. I’m glad to see a magazine that is focused on gear and self defense will now be an option for the membership magazine.

Full disclosure: I’ve been known to write for them on occasion. Thought not so much lately. Kind out of ideas, frankly. Any suggestions?

I’ve been looking into the idea of using magpul BUIS as primary sights but a lot of the internet says they aren’t durable enough. My thought is that if you have a backup iron that is supposed to outlive the breaking of your primary sight which causes you to need it in the first place, shouldn’t it be sturdy enough to use full time?

I’d read the hell out of an article that talked about that.

That’s not really what they’re for. A modern optic like an ACOG or Aimpoint M4 is tougher than the iron sights on the M16A2 already.

I, for one, could use an article in the style of Jeff Cooper’s Corner, with brief anecdotes on the last month’s events and thoughts on interesting firearms. That is why I read this blog, now that I think about it.

Alternately, a personal perspective on almost anything gun related, from details of carrying daily for a month to popping a coyote while working in a rural area. Just good old fun gun ownership and use.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
